As was told previously i was to go for a Lean Production training on Thurs and Fri. We came back from work at 2pm on Wednesday (my work schedule was flexible kind of) to get a nap/rest before we went on our journey at 6pm. It was a decent drive without much traffic to Carolltan, Texas. (which is beside Dallas, Irving, Addison) cluster of big cities basically.
We checked into our hotel, Crowne Plaze hotel after dinner and kind of chill and rest to prepare for the long day of training. Surprisingly the training was not as boring as i thought it would be. We got thru the day with 3 other interns at 4pm and Tim wanted to get back to the hotel to finish up his story book ( He has an addiction for his book recently). We wanted to eat in the hotel because it will be charged to the company however later our supervisor in Halliburtton told us to eat out, somewhere good because apparently there's this street called Beltline Road is famous with 160 restaurants located along it, and we can likewise claim from Halliburton. Tim wanted to eat Fish and i have a craving for Steak for some reason and all of the suddenly while driving back to the hotel we saw "Nate's Seafood and Steak" wow! Settle! That's it! LOL.
That's our hotel room..
We went for dinner at 8pm because i need to meet PeyLing, who is my mom's brother's granddaughter. Basically is my cousin's daughter aka my niece? (LOL. Not sure.Too far away in the family tree) at 9pm. I have never met her in maybe 5 years and all of the sudden we're meeting up in U.S since she works in Irving. She's same age with my sister. Anyway, when Tim and I got to Nate's we found out it was so awesome! It's like one part of it is bar with live band playing and the other is non-smokin' dining area. Of course we went to the non-smokin' area. Because our company is paying, we order some expensive food. Tim got a piece of fish (not sure what is it's called) of the size of my palm that cost 23 dollars and i got myself T-bone that costed 26 dollars. The food, needless to say , was so freakin' awesome! It ended up cost me 36 dollars include drink, tax and 4 bucks tips and 38 for Tim cause he gotten himself an extra pudding as desert. When we went to get our car from the jockey ( Yes someone took care of Tim's car when we got here), there're Porsches and Mercedes sports car everywhere, in which we realized we're in a rich ass area.
This is the T-bone that i had. Doesnt it looks awesome!LOL
PeyLing came to pick me up from the hotel at 930 and we went to yogurtland for some good desert. There were so many asians there that i dont feel like i am in U.S at all. That is something good about big city. We dont get as much asians in Oklahoma. It is known as White State and also the fact that there's really nothing much there. We chit chat and catch up with each other and it was pretty funny cause the last time she see me i was still a little kid. It is great to see some relative/family here in U.S :)
This is PeyLing and she looks so kiddy. She's 7 years elder than me!
Yogurt that we had
Training was as usual the next day and we got thru the day at 4 and of course we wont leave the city without having to explore a little. The first place we went was Guitar Store which the other intern told us to go because i wanted to get a guitar. The store was enormous man. First thing that came to my mind is " My brother, Dawson will definitely love this " It is like a heaven for anyone who loves musics! After about 30 minutes, i came off the store with a new guitar. I bought a Beginner pack Guitar that costed 199.99USD with the original price to be 399 USD. I am now pretty broke! lol.
My Mitchell MO-100 SPK
It came with a bag, extra strings, tuner, picks, instructional dvd, and a strap
Then, Tim wanted to go to a place called "Improv" which is a cafe/bar/restaurant which you dine while having a stand up comedian entertaining. Unfortunately, when we got there, show for that night was sold out! Dengit! The counter girl asked us if we wanted to get a ticket for Sunday show because Russell Peters is coming! haha. How cool is that! If you dont know who he is, go Youtube it. He is my favorite comedian of all time. Too bad it is too far a drive for us to get down here. So we went off to a Wine and beer store to get some whisky as Tim is a huge fan of alcohol. He dont drink to get drunk, he just enjoy it so he is not technically an alcoholic. He spend 130 bucks on Whisky cause apparently he got his pay of 212USD on his debit card and wanted to spend all of it. haha..
We then decided to go catch a movie and ironically Studio Movie Grill appeared in front of us. We went there to get tickets for "Night in the Musuem 2" and was told that dinner will be serve in the theater while we watch the movie. How awesome is that. We wont have to worry about dinner then. The movie was awesome! Hilarious but doesnt make as much sense as the first series.
We dine while watch. Never seen somethin like this before..
We took off to Duncan after the movie leaving the big city life behind. To be honest, it feels good when we finally took off back to Duncan. Somehow, Duncan still feels more like home compared to Dallas. No doubt there're 1000 times more entertainment there than in Duncan, i still prefer Duncan to be my work place. It was home sweet home when we finally got home at 12am.
I woke up at 1pm today and has been playing with my guitar since then until Tim asked if I wanted to go for a movie and obviously YES! What else can we do here? lol. We went for "Terminator Salvation" at 4pm and it was pretty good. Not like super awesome but not bad! After that, Tim was like "want another movie? i have nothing to do today" and i goes "Sure man"
We got some burgers from Carl jr's and catch "Drag me to Hell" at 7.10pm. This movie is sooooo freakin' awesome! It definitely beats all that i have watched so far given that i watched 3 movie in 2 days time! LOL. Besides, the main actress was smokin'/blazin'/scorchin' HOT!
I signed up for a privilege card thing and was given 2 free movie tickets and we decided to go for the 3D Movie " UP" on Tuesday because Popcorn and drinks only cost 1 bucks each on Tuesday. :)
Anyway, wanna get back with my guitar practice now with the tutoring dvd that came with the guitar pack. Cant wait to play with my elder brother when i get home SOON.... haha.
Apparently someone named their restaurant after my sister's name. LOL
This is what happens when i found out that Halliburton is paying us 1000USD directly instead of reimbursing us what we spend on housing. We took off all the stereo and huge 42 inches flat screen tv with the support and changed to this little tv putting it on our little supposed-to-be coffee table. :) Our monthly furniture rental dropped from 848 USD to 565 usd. Nice.. Extra pocket money for us. Also those intern in Texas spend 1100 usd per person for housing meaning that they need to use 100 usd from their pay to make up for their housing while we have about 400 bucks to spare for food. Poor thing..
My Halliburton intern T-shirt.
