Texas Training

As was told previously i was to go for a Lean Production training on Thurs and Fri. We came back from work at 2pm on Wednesday (my work schedule was flexible kind of) to get a nap/rest before we went on our journey at 6pm. It was a decent drive without much traffic to Carolltan, Texas. (which is beside Dallas, Irving, Addison) cluster of big cities basically.

We checked into our hotel, Crowne Plaze hotel after dinner and kind of chill and rest to prepare for the long day of training. Surprisingly the training was not as boring as i thought it would be. We got thru the day with 3 other interns at 4pm and Tim wanted to get back to the hotel to finish up his story book ( He has an addiction for his book recently). We wanted to eat in the hotel because it will be charged to the company however later our supervisor in Halliburtton told us to eat out, somewhere good because apparently there's this street called Beltline Road is famous with 160 restaurants located along it, and we can likewise claim from Halliburton. Tim wanted to eat Fish and i have a craving for Steak for some reason and all of the suddenly while driving back to the hotel we saw "Nate's Seafood and Steak" wow! Settle! That's it! LOL.

That's our hotel room..

We went for dinner at 8pm because i need to meet PeyLing, who is my mom's brother's granddaughter. Basically is my cousin's daughter aka my niece? (LOL. Not sure.Too far away in the family tree) at 9pm. I have never met her in maybe 5 years and all of the sudden we're meeting up in U.S since she works in Irving. She's same age with my sister. Anyway, when Tim and I got to Nate's we found out it was so awesome! It's like one part of it is bar with live band playing and the other is non-smokin' dining area. Of course we went to the non-smokin' area. Because our company is paying, we order some expensive food. Tim got a piece of fish (not sure what is it's called) of the size of my palm that cost 23 dollars and i got myself T-bone that costed 26 dollars. The food, needless to say , was so freakin' awesome! It ended up cost me 36 dollars include drink, tax and 4 bucks tips and 38 for Tim cause he gotten himself an extra pudding as desert. When we went to get our car from the jockey ( Yes someone took care of Tim's car when we got here), there're Porsches and Mercedes sports car everywhere, in which we realized we're in a rich ass area.

This is the T-bone that i had. Doesnt it looks awesome!LOL

PeyLing came to pick me up from the hotel at 930 and we went to yogurtland for some good desert. There were so many asians there that i dont feel like i am in U.S at all. That is something good about big city. We dont get as much asians in Oklahoma. It is known as White State and also the fact that there's really nothing much there. We chit chat and catch up with each other and it was pretty funny cause the last time she see me i was still a little kid. It is great to see some relative/family here in U.S :)
This is PeyLing and she looks so kiddy. She's 7 years elder than me!
Yogurt that we had
Training was as usual the next day and we got thru the day at 4 and of course we wont leave the city without having to explore a little. The first place we went was Guitar Store which the other intern told us to go because i wanted to get a guitar. The store was enormous man. First thing that came to my mind is " My brother, Dawson will definitely love this " It is like a heaven for anyone who loves musics! After about 30 minutes, i came off the store with a new guitar. I bought a Beginner pack Guitar that costed 199.99USD with the original price to be 399 USD. I am now pretty broke! lol.
My Mitchell MO-100 SPK
It came with a bag, extra strings, tuner, picks, instructional dvd, and a strap
Then, Tim wanted to go to a place called "Improv" which is a cafe/bar/restaurant which you dine while having a stand up comedian entertaining. Unfortunately, when we got there, show for that night was sold out! Dengit! The counter girl asked us if we wanted to get a ticket for Sunday show because Russell Peters is coming! haha. How cool is that! If you dont know who he is, go Youtube it. He is my favorite comedian of all time. Too bad it is too far a drive for us to get down here. So we went off to a Wine and beer store to get some whisky as Tim is a huge fan of alcohol. He dont drink to get drunk, he just enjoy it so he is not technically an alcoholic. He spend 130 bucks on Whisky cause apparently he got his pay of 212USD on his debit card and wanted to spend all of it. haha..
We then decided to go catch a movie and ironically Studio Movie Grill appeared in front of us. We went there to get tickets for "Night in the Musuem 2" and was told that dinner will be serve in the theater while we watch the movie. How awesome is that. We wont have to worry about dinner then. The movie was awesome! Hilarious but doesnt make as much sense as the first series.

We dine while watch. Never seen somethin like this before..
We took off to Duncan after the movie leaving the big city life behind. To be honest, it feels good when we finally took off back to Duncan. Somehow, Duncan still feels more like home compared to Dallas. No doubt there're 1000 times more entertainment there than in Duncan, i still prefer Duncan to be my work place. It was home sweet home when we finally got home at 12am.
I woke up at 1pm today and has been playing with my guitar since then until Tim asked if I wanted to go for a movie and obviously YES! What else can we do here? lol. We went for "Terminator Salvation" at 4pm and it was pretty good. Not like super awesome but not bad! After that, Tim was like "want another movie? i have nothing to do today" and i goes "Sure man"
We got some burgers from Carl jr's and catch "Drag me to Hell" at 7.10pm. This movie is sooooo freakin' awesome! It definitely beats all that i have watched so far given that i watched 3 movie in 2 days time! LOL. Besides, the main actress was smokin'/blazin'/scorchin' HOT!
I signed up for a privilege card thing and was given 2 free movie tickets and we decided to go for the 3D Movie " UP" on Tuesday because Popcorn and drinks only cost 1 bucks each on Tuesday. :)
Anyway, wanna get back with my guitar practice now with the tutoring dvd that came with the guitar pack. Cant wait to play with my elder brother when i get home SOON.... haha.

Apparently someone named their restaurant after my sister's name. LOL
This is what happens when i found out that Halliburton is paying us 1000USD directly instead of reimbursing us what we spend on housing. We took off all the stereo and huge 42 inches flat screen tv with the support and changed to this little tv putting it on our little supposed-to-be coffee table. :) Our monthly furniture rental dropped from 848 USD to 565 usd. Nice.. Extra pocket money for us. Also those intern in Texas spend 1100 usd per person for housing meaning that they need to use 100 usd from their pay to make up for their housing while we have about 400 bucks to spare for food. Poor thing..

Puzzle! lol

Out of curiousity n boredom, i took out the puzzle that my friend gave it to me and attempt to assemble it as fast as i can. It took me 6-7 freaking hours to fix it! Dengit!
However, when it is finally done, the sense of fulfillment and achievement made my day!
I documented the process :

Starting..
After 2 hours..

Another 2 hours

This morning!
By the way, today is the last of my 3 days holiday. It is also a public holiday because of memorial day in remembrance of soldiers/veterans who sacrificed for the country, in this case, United States. Didnt had much to do this weekend just chill at home. I will be going to Dallas, Texas on Thursday and Friday for a Lean Production training! Hope it wont be another boring seminar. LOL. The weather's getting hot.... Oh no! Summer!!

Summer Project

After blogging yesterday, the rest of the day was a blast! I am finally back here in my cubicle having the little time to blog about yesterday. By the way, i couldnt get to online in my apartment yet since there's no internet line there.

Yesterday i met with at least 20-30 new people around the manufacturing site. My office is located just beside a warehouse. Not like those freaking run-down kind of office, in fact it is pretty awesome! :)

Because i will be working around the warehouse here, i needed some steel toe shoe. HAlliburton got me a voucher and then asked me to go outside where there's a huge truck selling all the safety shoes. I gave them the voucher and chose any kind of shoes that i want for free ! Next thing i know was the voucher could be used to purchase 2 pairs! Cool... I got myself a Converse and a Sketches. Then i was given a set of ear buds, a cool "Halliburton" hard hat, a pair of gloves and also my employee ID card! haha. I could basicaly access to all the doors here in the Manufacturing Center. :)

Then my manager brought me to meet with Shane which is the PGL (Production Group Leader) of the East Warehouse after meeting with Jason and Ricky who is the PGL for the West warehouse. East warehouse has all the super huge machineries and parts. They have likee 4 auto programming machines that will get the parts needed out from the shelfs which is about 4-5 stories tall. How cool is that!!! Then Brent decided to let me in charge of the M zone of the warehouse. Out of curiousity, i asked why. And then he smiled and he along with Shane brought me to look at M zone.... It is a freaking open air warehouse and it is enormous! It stores all the huge parts of Halliburton's truck like the enginers, pumps and stuffs. Basically all the red stuffs ( you will know why later).. It covers probably 10 to 20 acre of land! hahaha... Spending the summer under the sun man> :P After several debates, they decided to let me in charge of the parts that build the "Elite" truck. The parts may be in some other zones but basically i need to have them somehow compile and labeled somewhere so that they can get it immediately whenever they want! What a challenge! I love it really.

After work, Tim and I went to Walmart to get stuffs for our home. Earlier that day we went to Rent-A-Center which is a store where they will rent you everything from a couch to a bed to playstation. Because we didnt have furniture in our apartment, we rent it from the store. We each rent a bed along with dressing sets, a desk for our room, a nice lazboy couch for our living room, DVD player with home stereo, 30+ inch flat screen TV, and a nice wooden dining table. It costed us 845 USD per month. Not that bad since we'll each have USD 1000 per person/month for accomodation and food. Deducting the rent, we'll still have some money for our food.

Anyway, it was a superbly tiring day yesterday settling down and unpacking everything. Today is a more relaxing day. Tonight will be going to the nearby recreation center for some volleyball with some other cool Halliburton people here. :) I'm gonna get over to my advisor's office now! Take care!
Storage of parts that used to build this truck is now my responsibility! That's all the red stuffs that i am talking about man! By the way, this manufacturing center exports parts to every part of the world. They will be having their parts exported to Malaysia this Thursday! Cool...!

First Day at Work!

Came to work at 8am today and went to get some paper work done with the HR department. Met with my manager and talked about the projects... get some hard hat, gloves, ear buds...get to know some key leaders around the warehouse...look at my office... sit down....and has since been sitting down here. LOL. Because i cant walk around the warehouse yet until my orientation next week, i wont be having anything to do this few days here. Just get online, talk to people here and just chill i guess... Boring! Arghhh... Just hope i would get something started soon..Just give me anything to do!! lol!

Buffet King

I woke up at 930am today because there's a complimentary breakfast. When i get prepared and went down, the breakfast already ended! It is from 730 to 930am. What was that man! I didnt know that and when i was there at 945am, it was already empty. Only orange juice. Sigh..
So i came back to my room, read and watch tv and sleep until it was 1pm when i am ready to hunt for lunch. I went over to a chinese restaurant opposite of my hotel and it was closed on SundaY! Then i spotted another chinese buffet restaurant called "Buffet King" !! LOL.

I walked about 5 minutes over there and it was packed with people! When i walked in, the chinese people there spoke english with me until i heard them speaking chinese, then i started talking to them in chinese! The weird thing that i dont feel comfortable with is that they kept looking at me when i eat. Like they found their own people! LOL.

All of the sudden, there's one waitress who came over to my table like 3-4 times and asked where am i from, where am i working, what will i be doing after this 3 months, and the last question was......how old am i? hahahah! What the heck! So funny! Then at the end she asked for my email and cell phone number.. lol. She said just wanna make friends and stuffs.. LOL then she gave me hers as well.

When i was making payment, the guy there talked to me and asked why am i so young and work with Halliburton? He used to see people in the 30-s but not kid of my age working with HalliburtonN! haha. Dont know if that's a compliment or what?? haha.

Anyway, going to have dinner with Halliburton guys later at 6pm and i guess my housemate, Tim will be reaching here pretty soon! Gonna leave this awesome hotel and get back to reality of my job tomorrow. Wont be blogging so soon anymore! haha! Hope i could find the time to blog of my first day at work.. Till then...

KFC

After sleeping for 4 hours, i went down to buy my dinner. Once i walk down, the first thing i saw was KFC!! It was just right beside my hotel! awesome!LOL. After walking around and look around for 10 minutes, i couldnt resist the smell of KFC anymore and thus bought my dinner there. It was so freaking expensive! Bought a combo meal of 3 pieces of chicken costed 8 dollars man! I took it back to my hotel room and eat it while watching Harry Potter on the TV. :)

KFC here was not as good as in Malaysia's simply because they dont have thai chilli sauce at all! Restaurants here dont normally have chilli sauce. Only ketchups! Where would you eat KFC with ketchups man! It tasted awful. BUt well, i eat it without any sauce so it dont suck that bad! :)
Anyway, my roommate will be reaching here tomorrow. He will be driving from Indiana which is... 3 states away. He already started his journey today morning and will be reaching texas probably by now and will be up here tomorrow. Poor thing drive so far man.

That's the KFC beside my hotel on the right!
Awesome Life... :)

Finally Here

I am finally at Duncan after months of preparation and excitement! :) Timothy fetched me here and left most of my huge stuffs at the apartment and taken those that i need for this 2 days to the hotel. The hotel was so awesome! I dont know how much it costs but i overheard that it was 160 Dollars for 2 nights. Man.. Halliburton will be paying i guess.. Hopefully. LOL.

Lucky thing the hotel has wireless i could get online then i wont be that bored! There are like 2 tv in the hotel. What the heck! Here's some photos of the hotel anyway..

Cool stuffs right? LOL. Am gonna order some food here for my lunch or probably gonna sleep for a while before exploring this town man. Anyway this town is of roughly 24,000 people and Halliburton support almost half of the population in this town. Besides, this is the place where Erle Halliburton first started the company in 1919! Such a historical place and as it is apparent, the stores here are old!!! OLD!!LOL. Anyway, i am tired man. Till the next post, take care folks!

Lunch

Given the need to finish all the food before i leave, i had an awesome lunch!

-4 strips of bacons, a fried egg, 2 slices of ham, baked tilapia with koreon bbq sauce, and an awesome bowl of fried rice!

I'm so full now! Awesome life here doing nothing. LOL. Just received my project for my internship and will be soon be working on it. Will be on an all paid trip to Carroltan, Texas on 28th and 29th of May for my company's training.

Anyway, going out soon to buy some stuffs since I HAVE A CAR for today!! :) Go around town and probably catch a movie at the nearby movie theatre later! muahaha.. Life's awesome!

A day with car

I just got back from fetching my friend to the airport! It is already 645am and the sun already came out! What the heck man! It is already bright at 615am. Signifies that summer is here!! Lol. My friend left me with his car so i will be having his car until tomorrow when i leave for Duncan. Woohoo.. Gonna go around town today man! Make use of it. ahha. Anyway i gotten my breakfast from McD and am ready to go to bed now! Gd Night people! :)

Truck Driver

On Tuesday, me and 3 of my friends needed to go get our furniture from Yurie's house because we all bought some from her since she will be leaving U.S soon. We rented a truck from U Haul at 2pm and i drove the truck!! It was so awesome man! The truck was V10. Normal sports car has V6 or V8. Meaning it is running on 6 valves or 8 valves. But this freaking truck was running on 10 valves!! It was sooo powerful man! First time in my life i drove a truck and well, guess i will add that to my resume later.. haha!

We shifted the stuffs from Yurie's house to our respectives house and then helped another friend to carry her stuffs to another home. After we're all done with it, my friend decided to ride on the trunk carriage since the truck only fits 3 person in the front. I kinda turn hard on corners on purpose just to play around with him! LOL. Then brake hard and accelerate fast. muahahaha..

That's the guys in front of the awesome truck!

I drove it all the way onto the lawn so that we dont have to carry the furniture that far and was later scolded by the physical plant officer! LOL. Oops!

That's Yu Jun who decided to get at the back and was locked up by us!

10 Valvess!!!

Anyway, i am almost done packing for my internship this saturday. Will be going to Duncan on Saturday but the apartment only will be furnished on Monday afternoon so i will be staying in a hotel for Saturday and Sunday before i get my apartment. Company's paying for the hotel so it sounds good !:)
Will be going out at 3am later to fetch one of my senior to the airport. He will be going back to Malaysia AGAIN!! :( Awww... Sad-nye. I hope i will be able to go back end of this year. We'll see! :) Till then, Adiosss!

Jamming Session!

Since Eldrick Saw's only sister want me to post more entry and also because i just had one fun activity, i am going to write about it now despite it's already 3am here! LOL.

After working out at Colvin this evening after my previous post, i went to Jonathan's house for dinner. While having my dinner, Courtney called and asked to see if we wanted to go to the church for some jamming (kinda) session which we wanted to do for a long time and Jonathan will be having his flight back to Malaysia tomorrow morning, we decided to shoot for it!

When i got home to prepare to go church, i realized my outer door was blown away by the strong wind! And this is the 3rd time is was blown off. I am sure the Univeristy Apartment Officer will blacklist our apartment prettty soon! LOL.

That's the one! haha!

Our jamming session was awesome! We played so many songs and i learn more beats and gets better with my drumming skill already! (Although still sucky) :( We played for about 3 hours! lol
Some photos were taken! We're such a pathetic group of kids! hahah!

What the heck! I am teaching drum man! haha

Acting Cool while Jonathan's concentrating. I was exhausted!!

We went home at 1am thinking that it is time to sleep but then Jonathan asked Courtney and Mio (another japanese girl) to come over to my house to hang out and have some drinks! They agreed!! They was hungry so i heat up some frozen food for them and we just chill until i saw a card game i just got it from one of my friend. It is "UNO BOMB" game which i used to play while i was in high school! I forgotten how to play the game and it wasnt as fun in the beginning 10 minutes cause we're trying to figure out how the game works. When i finally remembered, it was a blast!! We played sooo many rounds of it. Jonathan needed to pack him luggage but was attracted by the game until he doesnt want to go home until finally at 245am, he reluctantly said he need to go! hahah! Poor little kid! Anyway had a blast with these guys tonight! It was a fun night. Guess the next time hanging out with them will be during the Fall. Another 3 months time. Gonna miss them during the summer man! and also gonna miss the drum. :(

Showing off his muscle..?
LOL. That's me trying to serve my guests at home!

Guess it is time to bath and sleep ! Nudge me and talk to me in msn people! hahaha! :) Nights!
Anyway attached is one moment of us playing the instrument! lol. Enjoy!

School's out!!

Finally i am done with my finals! It's been a while since i last updated my blog. Life's been so exciting and interesting that i couldnt find any time to blog about it!!!!! :)LOL. Henry (my roommate) went back to Malaysia on Monday and so does most of my friends for freaking 3 months!!!! (roti canai, bakkut teh, cha kuey teow, curry mee, laksa....Oh my..) I will be home alone for the next few days until this saturday where i will be moving to Duncan, Oklahoma for my internship!! Woohoo! Cant wait man!

So my finals went well last week and i had my result out yesterday! I got a 4.0 GPA again this semester. Way to go man! This semester has been the highest average that i had gotten for any subjects. Here's the break down:

(a) Thermodynamics - 95.5% (198/200% for my final exam)
(b) Engineering Economic - 97.4% (150/150 % for my final exam)
(c) Engineering Programming - 95.9% (92% for my final exam)
(d) Intro to Arts - 98% (100% for my final paper)
(e) Intro to Electrical - final average not out yet, only grade.

Anyway, on the monday of finals, Dr Thompson (my mentor) brought 4 of the Halliburton scholars out to a nearby Japanese restaurant which is awesome but expensive thou but Dr Thompson's buying us the meal so.. who cares! LOL.

My Scallop with Fried rice Meal! 17 Dollars! LOL
That little boy is pee-ing on the pool of fire!

That's Dr Thompson trying to catch a piece of Shrimp thrown over by the Chef! Unfortunately, he didnt get it! Awww.. LOL
That's us! :)

Then on the friday after i finish my finals, we had a potluck party with some friends and we invited Dr Thompson once again. One of our Thai friend cooked us Thai Tomyam and it was so awesome! It feels like those in Malaysia Hawker stall but much healthier. After that i went to iHop, one of the few 24 hrs restaurant in Stillwater for some drink with some of my friends and hang out there. After i went home, i watched Family Guy !! OMG! I found myself addicted to Family Guy and also George Lopez movie man! Go check it out! You will definitely laugh off your head. On Saturday morning, i went to my friend's commencement at Gallagher Iba arena where me too will be receiving my graduating certificate in 2 years time! Cant wait for that day! The scene was so cool and fortunately/unfortunately in some sense, we took the furthest but highest spot on the basketball stadium and it was already filled with people. In the afternoon, me and Henry went for lunch with Curt because he will be helping us to move some furnitures from a Japanese girl house to our house (we bought it from her with a low price since she is leaving Stillwater) since he has a truck. Our house feel more like a HOME now with the nice furniture especially the couch that we bought. Furnitures can really transform a house.

This is the place that i am going to have my commencement! :)

Courtney Tang (Taiwan) and I. She's my cute sister in Christ.
Tony from Malaysia and I

Cool Matt and I

On that night, Malaysian Student Society had a Graduation Banquet for those graduating Malaysian at one of the small ballroom. Oh ya!! I was elected to be the money man (treasurer) of MSS for 2009-2010 school year, so as committees, some of us needed to get there early and set up the banquet before guests arrives. Nothing much happens. Everyone just had a great time hanging around and spending time together.

That's Hui Hui with the four who came to OSU in Fall 2008 ( Henry, Vicnesh, Yu Jun, and Me)
Hui Hui helped us to get our apartment and all our procedures done when we were in Malaysia. She was the formet President of International Student Organization. Smart and educated mommy now with her 5 months old baby just born! :)

LOL. My laptop skin...ahha

Bee and I. Bee was the MSS president who helped us a lot in settling down in U.S. Nice girl. Owe her a lot!

Commitee aint suppose to eat!!!! Oopss.

Group photos with all the Malaysian students.

This is KL and I. KL is a super senior here in OSU. See how close are we?? -winks.. cause he is big horse and i am small horse as in the chinese zodiac! So he is exactly 12 years elder than me!! We are both born in the year of horse but 12 years apart!! awesome! haha!

Sunday morning, i went to church early at 930am for the bible study class and then service at 11am. As everyone knows(except and somehow, me) , sunday was Mother's day!! I wished my mom on my friday, which is Malaysia's saturday thinking that it was already Mother's day and my mom say thank you and stuffs! Then, what the heck!! My friend told me it was actually Sunday! So i called and then wished again! hahahah! (MOM, it was actually excuse to just call and talk to you) LOL.

By the way, Curt's cool and awesome parents came to the church that day as well for the service. After church, we went to Texas Roadhouse for lunch. It is another expensive restaurant and again, his dad bought me the meal! LOL. I bought his mom a packet of Almond "Kisses" chocolates and wrote her a card. She said she loves it! haha! Mentioning of "Kisses" chocolates, my students which i tutored frequently this semester bought me a gift on the last tutoring session. They bought me some "kisses" chocolates, a Sonic Dining Gift Card, and a crossword puzzle exercise! Crap! Cause one of my students love to play with crossword puzzle and i never get to solve one yet!! So, they bought me a book fill of crossword so that i could practice it over the summer!!!! (HOW THOUGHTFUL...) hahhaa!

This is it. My buddy for the summer.

For Curt's mom!.

That night, MSS had a committee dinner at Kyoto ( another japanese restaurant) and it costed me 16dollars! What the heck!! Lol!

After that Sunday, nothing much happens. Been watching a lot of Family Guy online, packing, work out, clean up and stuffs all ALONE AT HOME!! Crap! I'm bored! So.. if you see me on msn or facebook, nudge me or talk to me before i am covered with dusts! :)

Anyway it is steaming out there with the sun blazing at us!! I am out to get some sun man! Till then, take care!
